Alphorn meeting
In recent years the alphorn meeting on the beautiful alpine pasture at Chüematte has become one of the biggest events of its kind.
In addition to countless alphorn players and flag wavers from near and afar, there is also lots of entertainment with dancers in traditional costumes and yodellers, making for a wonderful festive mood.
The event begins at 10:30 am with an alpine church service. The stall serving snacks and drinks opens at around 10 am. The programme of dance and entertainment begins around noon. The Chüematte can be reached from Beatenberg/Waldegg by car (permit required), bicycle, on foot or by shuttle bus (from 9:30 h). The hike up from Niederhorn or Vorsass takes approx. 90 minutes.
A Chästeilet was first held in the Justis Valley in 1739. It is said today that the Justis Valley Teilet is the oldest event of its kind anywhere. The Teilet begins at 11 am and lasts well into the afternoon. The Alpabzug procession begins at around 2 pm. Shuttle buses operate a regular service from Beatenberg station and from Sigriswil.
The popular programme of guest evenings take place on the municipal square from June to September. Every fortnight or so, local – and sometimes outside – ensembles play music, dance, sing and entertain audiences of all ages with their performances, both guests and locals, children and adults. The guest evenings begin at 8 pm on the municipal square; in poor weather they are held in the conference hall. A small catering stand serves snacks and drinks featuring regional produce.
