The municipality of Bönigen


Bönigen on Lake Brienz is a small village community just outside Interlaken. A village in the Bernese Oberland where local traditions and customs are alive and well, and the pace of rural life is set by nature’s clock. The historical centre of Bönigen on Lake Brienz with its alleys and wooden houses from the 16th and 18th century make this Bernese Oberland village unique.

The municipality of Iseltwald


The village of Iseltwald with its small picturesque bay is located on the left-hand shore of Lake Brienz. It offers lots of sporting activities ranging from sailing, surfing and fishing to rowing and water-skiing. At the end of the village is the pleasant lido, the perfect spot for resting and relaxing after a day’s hiking. Alternatively you may prefer to spend the day dreaming away the hours lazing in the sunshine.

Bönigen has around 2‘400 inhabitants.
Iseltwald has around 440 inhabitants.

Resort taxes / Guest Card


Guests staying in Bönigen and Iseltwald are liable to resort taxes. In return our guests are issued with a Guest Card, which entitles them to free use of the buses and trains on various routes within the Interlaken region. They also benefit from a range of discounts such as admission to the swimming pool, museums, etc. Revenue from the resort taxes helps finance the tourist offer.
