The municipality of Beatenberg
The territory covered by the municipality of Beatenberg extends from Lake Thun, at an altitude of 556 m, to the Niederhorn-Gemmenalphorn-Seefeld region, the highest point of which lies at 2063 metres above sea level. Three of the village’s four areas (Waldegg, Schmocken, Spirenwald) are spread out along the 7 km village street, with the fourth area (Sundlauenen) situated down by the lake, making Beatenberg the longest village in Europe.

Resort taxes
Guests staying in Beatenberg are liable to resort taxes. After filling out the registration form you will receive a Beatenberg Guest Card, which entitles you to a range of discounts, including free use of the bus within Beatenberg (valid from Niederhorn valley station to Ramsern and back, but not to/from Interlaken). Beatenberg resort tax rates
The rates for the resort tax and cantonal accommodation tax per night are as follows:
- CHF 3.50 for adults
- CHF 1.20 for children aged 6 to 16
Lower rates apply for overnight stays in tents or group accommodation. The resort tax helps to finance the tourism offer. Paying the resort tax entitles the visitor to obtain a Guest Card, which in turn offers a range of discounts. A full list is available at the Tourist Centre.
