The village with the carved houses
Bönigen on Lake Brienz is a small village community just outside Interlaken. A village in the Bernese Oberland where local traditions and customs are alive and well, and the pace of rural life is set by nature’s clock. The historical centre of Bönigen on Lake Brienz with its alleys and wooden houses from the 16th and 18th century make this Bernese Oberland village unique.

With its exceptional location and good transport links to the skiing and hiking areas of the Jungfrau region as well as Interlaken with connections to Bern and Lucerne, the village is a popular holiday resort and place to live in the Bernese Oberland.
