After a long period in remote obscurity as an alpine farming village Beatenberg attained unparalleled fame around 1900 during the Belle Epoque. In an age when the aristocracy began to travel, the resort’s unique and incomparable beauty was much appreciated by many princes and emperors.
And so it came about that gold-braided hoteliers began to welcome Europe’s high nobility to the vast grand hotels on the Beatenberg.
