Kursaal Gardens

The cultural focal point is the Kursaal, which has been renovated several times since it was first built in 1859, with its magnificent gardens and much admired flower clock. On August 1, the Swiss National Holiday, the Kursaal Gardens provide the venue for the traditional apéritifs for guests and locals alike. Alphorns, yodelling, flag waving and a strong local draught beer are all part of this well attended occasion.
There is always something for everyone, with evening entertainment, music concerts and theatrical performances in the wonderful art nouveau halls of the Kursaal building, and folkloristic events in the cosy “Spycher”. Those who so wish might want to try their luck at a game of “Boule” or the slot machine casino.
