Village round tour, join one of our tour guides on his tour trough Bönigen. Learn much more about the fascinating old houses and customs of Bönigen from the 1700-18.00 century. However the interested eye will have no difficulties to discover here and there delightful details or even whole housepaintings along the tour. E.g. the „Housihuus“ built 1757, the first hostel in Bönigen, where in 1808 King Frederik of Württemberg resided.

Bönigen has an old part of national importance. Wooden houses from the 16th to 19 Century dominate the village centre, which has never been destroyed by a large fire fortunately. Since 1549, numerous buildings have been preserved here in a small space of each construction period. Wood was for the Böniger peoples a perfect material to build houses. First only the functional buildings and then in the 16th century they started to have pleasure to decorate their houses with woodcarving. The proof are all the houses of authenticity carved and frescoed from the 16. – 18. Century.
