Cultural Landscape Prize – tourism says thank you
Stunning landscapes with flower-filled meadows and the ring of cowbells are the main reasons why guests choose our region as their holiday destination. These landscapes, however, require care and cultivation by farmers.
The potential for cost-efficient management and competitive production is limited by the topography and climate of our mountain region. Nevertheless, steep and remote areas are often of great ecological and aesthetic value. If these areas were abandoned, they would become overgrown and turn into forest.
Every year, particularly beautiful and valuable landscapes in the region are awarded the "Cultural Landscape Prize" in a competition. Through the support and image promotion from tourism organizations, the Cultural Landscape Prize is intended to give farmers a small incentive to continue sustainable management, thus making a contribution to the preservation of our beautiful cultural landscape.
