Winterlaken Labyrinth

Explore a wintry labyrinth made up of Christmas trees

Between 13 January at 5.00 pm and 19 February 2023, you and your loved ones can visit the Winterlaken Labyrinth on the Höhematte for free. Winding woodchip paths lead visitors through an enchanted forest of disused Christmas trees.

The Winterlaken Labyrinth

Here, used and unsold Christmas trees get a new lease of life. Interlaken Tourism works with the local population and businesses to create the sustainable Winterlaken labyrinth from disused fir trees – which means we also enjoy the Christmas mood for longer.

The labyrinth opens every day from 8.30 am to 9.30 pm at the northwestern end of the Höhematte. There are signs to indicate the entrance. The Winterlaken Labyrinth takes you and your friends through 230 metres of winding paths lined with 1000 disused Christmas trees. In the wintry maze you will encounter various blind alleys, figures and other surprises. A fun experience for people of all ages.

Sustainability

The Winterlaken Labyrinth is an eco-friendly experience for visitors and locals alike. Thanks to the labyrinth, scores of used and unsold Christmas trees donated by residents, local businesses, accommodations, the municipality and many other supporters find a second home on the Höhematte. Once they have provided an entertaining diversion for visitors, the trees are passed on to fisheries, farms and animal parks for further use.
