A €20,000 watch that stopped ticking — and so did their customer service. So much for Swiss precision.
🚨 A €20,000 lesson in what not to expect from Swiss luxury. They call it Swiss luxury. I call it the Swiss disappearing act. I purchased a Franck Muller watch worth approximately €20,000 from Kichhofer Retail Outlet in Interlaken, Switzerland during my trip in June 2025 — trusting the promise of Swiss craftsmanship and their reputation as one of the leading luxury retailers. Within a week of returning to India, the watch stopped working. Yes, a brand-new piece worth nearly ₹20 lakhs — stopped ticking before its story even began. When I reached out to the outlet, they completely brushed off the issue, conveniently pushing the responsibility to the Indian service partner, Kapoor Watch Company. What followed has been months of silence, excuses, and zero accountability from both — the retailer and the brand. I’ve sent multiple emails, followed up consistently since June, even escalated it on LinkedIn. Today, it’s October, and the situation remains unchanged. The watch has been lying at the service centre for over six months, and every attempt to get a response has been met with… complete silence. So I’m left wondering — is this what “luxury” looks like now? To sell at tourist spots, disappear after the sale, and hide behind long email chains and silence? If this is Swiss precision, then the only thing they’re perfect at is avoiding customers once the payment clears. To anyone travelling to Switzerland — especially to Interlaken — please be cautious. Do not fall for the illusion of “luxury” at tourist retail outlets. For many of us, €20,000 isn’t just a purchase — it’s trust, effort, and hard-earned money. And no one deserves to feel cheated under the banner of craftsmanship. A €20,000 watch that stopped ticking — and so did their customer service. So much for Swiss precision.

✨Highly recommended for couples, families, or anyone who loves good food and great service!
We had an amazing dinner at The Tavern in Interlaken! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome — friendly, attentive, and always smiling. The cozy Alpine atmosphere was perfect, and the food was outstanding. We ordered the Swiss specialties, and every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The service was prompt, and our waiter took time to recommend local wines that paired wonderfully with our meal. It’s clear this restaurant takes pride in both quality and hospitality. If you’re visiting Interlaken and want a memorable dining experience with a warm local touch, The Tavern is a must-try!

    Sandwiches below average
Not sure about their pizza, but the chicken sandwich was really bad. The black burger was decent, and the diner kabab was also below average. They also were pretty slow with service.

Fabulous hotel, very centrally located in Interlaken
Great find! We stayed in a four-person room which was perfect for 2 adults and 2 children. Staff very friendly and rooms very clean. Great location - walking distance to lots of restaurants.

    Would not ever go back.
We had a extremely disappointing stay at the Hotel Metropole where we complained about a continuous noise on the second night in our room. After a trip to reception to complain a maintenance man came up and listened. He agreed and said it was very noisy, but it was noise from the pipes and nothing more could be done about it, but would let Reception know. We heard nothing back from Reception. On leaving we asked Reception if the complaint had been recorded only for out taxi arrive before we got an answer. Back at home we complained, only to be told there was no record of a complaint and no noise in the Hotel room. This is a shame as the views from the hotel are amazing, but the lack of customer care is truly awful and totally ruined our stay.

    Restaurant Dinner Review
We ate dinner here. They have both inside and outside dining. We dined outside. We did not have a reservation and I think we got lucky. I would highly recommend a reservation. It's been awhile since we dined. They do not continually serve in the afternoon. They close after lunch and reopen at 5. We were able to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine while waiting for dinner. I can't remember what we ate but it was delicious and presented beautifully. We really enjoyed our meal. Our server was very nice and attentive. She spoke English and the menu was in English. It truly was a special night. I will mention we ordered the Eiskaffee which was kind of an ice cream dessert. Great presentation but it wasn't all filled with ice cream towards the bottom which was a disappointment. We wouldn't order that again. Highly recommend. So cleaned we dined. Located not far from the train station.

    Totally fabulous experience
A totally fabulous experience! We stayed two nights as part of a Viking cruise. The hotel is amazing. So beautiful. Our room was fabulous. Large, very clean, very well appointed. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was amazing. A chef prepared special eggs Benedict recipes. The view from the dining room was wonderful watching hanggliders land in the park across the street. Plenty of breakfast choices. Staff very attentive. I would rate this hotel 10 stars. By far the most amazing place I have ever stayed. I hope we can return one day.

    Enjoyed our meal
Although Interlaken has a lot of restaurants it is hard to find one that serves good food. We are so glad we found Husi Bierhaus. Location is very popular and has both inside and outside seating. Our waitress was very nice. Spoke English. Menu was in English. I had their salad and it was fantastic. I just wanted something light and refreshing. Hubby had the Schnitzel. It was a large serving and he enjoyed. We both had a Barrel Cider and found those to be refreshing. We enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. I think we got lucky getting a table with no reservation. To be on the safe side consider a reservation. Definitely recommend.

Delicious Gelato! Apple Maps hours are incorrect
Cute little shop in center of Interlaken. My husband and I saw it on Apple Maps while searching for dessert, so we decided to check it out. Apple Maps said the hours were 1pm to 11pm, however when we stopped by at 8:50pm, the woman informed us she was closing in 10 minutes, so hours on Apple Maps is not correct, however, we were quick to order and I am so glad we got to try this little treat. My husband got the hazelnut and it was delicious. I got the chocolate and the small was the perfect amount (and flavor) for an after dinner sweet treat. Would certainly return and recommend! For both smalls it was 10 CHF.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant, food and staff!
Glad we didn’t look at the reviews as this place was incredible. Amazing food, the lamb rack was the best I’ve ever eaten. Bruschetta also amazing and the Toblerone mousse was next level. Our server was amazing and so friendly and helpful. I can’t speak to the previous reviews but if I could give more stars I would. We have been traveling for 5 weeks and this is def the best meal we have had on our trip.

    Interlaken Stay
This property is the best in Interlaken, so we decided to spend the $ to stay there. It was worth every dollar. The hotel feels new, the rooms perfect, the restaurants were wonderful, the servicer was top notch. I have to specifically mention Jose Maia, the chief concierge, who gave us superb advice each day in helping us plan our activities and knowing exactly where to go. This hotel exceeded my expectations and was worth every dollar! Five Stars across the board.
