Jungfraujoch – the ever-white world of snow

The Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe is a high alpine world dominated by snow and glaciers. The highest railway station in Europe is reached by train from Interlaken Ost or via the Eiger Express cableway from Grindelwald. If arriving by Eiger Express, change to the train at Eigergletscher station. The journey itself is memorable, taking in fabulous mountain landscapes and razor-sharp cliff edges. At 3454 metres above sea level, you will have the finest views of the mighty Aletsch glacier. Visit the Ice Palace to admire artworks sculpted from ice in sub-zero temperatures.
 

The Schilthorn – on the trail of James Bond

Ride the cable car up to see the breathtaking views of the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau with your own eyes. A meal in the revolving restaurant Piz Gloria allows you to take in the entire mountain panorama from your seat in less than 45 minutes. Visit the interactive exhibition «Bond World» or the impressive «Thrill Walk» at Birg. In summer, the Schilthorn is a hiking area of great diversity; in the winter it becomes the highest skiing region in the Bernese Oberland.

Brienz Rothorn by old – world steam train

At full steam ahead, it's just one an hour from Brienz to the Brienzer Rothorn, where the hiking opportunities are boundless. At 2350 metres above sea level, you are greeted by the mountains of central Switzerland and the four-thousand-metre peaks of the Bernese Oberland. Down in the valley, the turquoise shades of Lake Brienz stand out. Treat yourself to something tasty on the terrace of the mountain lodge, or stay overnight in a homely room.
 

Niesen – the pyramid of the Bernese Oberland

As you head towards the Bernese Oberland, the pyramid of the Niesen can be seen from afar. How about a ride on a funicular that whisks you to the summit in 30 minutes? Then, to give one example, you can treat yourself to a culinary delight on the terrace of the Berghaus Niesen Kulm. For serious and casual sportspeople alike, the Niesen offers ample possibilities – together with magnificent views of the Bernese Alps, lakes Thun and Brienz and the entire Central Plateau as far as the Jura Mountains.
 

Stockhorn – idyllic Alpine landscape with twin mountain lakes

In around 20 minutes, the Stockhornbahn cable car swings you up from Erlenbach base station to the Stockhorn, where you can enjoy the delights of the Panorama Restaurant at 2139 metres above sea level. The viewing platform for the north face offers breathtaking views across the plateau and down as far as Lake Thun. As well as being a paradise for hikers, the area offers all manner of winter activities alongside fishing, climbing and bungee jumping. Which one appeals to you?
 

The Schynige Platte and a thriving Swiss tradition

An old-fashioned rack-and-pinion railway takes you from Wilderswil to the Schynige Platte in around one hour. Once at the summit, enjoy sensationally panoramic views of Interlaken, Lake Brienz, Lake Thun and the peaks all around. In addition to the numerous hiking trails, the Schynige Platte offers a Botanical Alpine Garden. In fine weather, we recommend a cool drink or a good meal on the sun terrace of the Berghotel – or perhaps a tasty slice of cake at the Breitlauenen midway station?

Niederhorn – experiences for every season

From Beatenberg, a circular gondola cableway whisks you to Niederhorn station in 20 minutes. Once arrived, enjoy spectacular views of Lake Thun, the mountainscape beyond and the snow-capped peaks of the Bernese Oberland. In summer, ride a scooter bike into the valley, go hiking or try your hand at Alpine orienteering. When the first snow arrives, it’s time for skiing, snowboarding and sledging in the family-friendly winter sports region.
 

Harder Kulm – Interlaken’s nearest mountain

In ten minutes, a funicular railway transports you from Interlaken to the Harder Kulm. A five minute stroll down a footpath brings you to the Panorama Restaurant for a good meal and a refreshing drink. Adjacent to the restaurant is the Zwei-Seen-Steg (two lakes bridge) viewing platform, from where you can view Interlaken and the lakes of Brienz and Thun. When the weather is clear, you can see the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau – making this the perfect vantage point for that unforgettable souvenir photo.
