Even the journey up the Bühlberg is a wonderful experience in winter. The higher the bus travels up the mountain road, the more one sees of the surrounding mountain giants in the municipality of Lenk. The Bühlberg itself is situated in a sunny spot and is something of a lookout post into the Simmental and up and beyond the valley into the Saaneland mountains. The winter hiking trail starts directly at the bus terminus next to the Bühlberg restaurant. It initially leads in a south-easterly direction to the Bühlberg - Hahnenmoos chairlift. You will pass behind the bottom station to avoid accidentally entering the ski slope area. Now the winter hiking trail leads almost without climbs or falls to the Metschmaad chairlift. There is a ski bar a little way above the bottom station where winter hikers will also be given a very warm reception.
From the Metschmaad chairlift, the marked trail now leads along the forest periphery to the Metschgraben brook to Metsch. This trail section climbs about 180 metres in altitude, which also makes it somewhat steep in some places. The magnificent panoramic views towards the Wildstrubel, Plaine-Morte and Wildhorn however compensate for this. During the descent you will also enjoy excellent views of the nearby ski slopes which lead to the middle station of the Stand-Xpress. The winter hiking trail also ends there. From here, you can take the gondola lift down into the valley from where you can walk along the valley road into Lenk.
