The Choleren gorge can be found just before Adelboden. The voluminous waters of the Tschentbach plunge into the depths of the gorge with a loud roar here. It is magnificent natural spectacle to behold. Various walkways and steps provide access to the 100-metre-long gorge. The circular walk from Adelboden is signposted. A number of options are possible for getting there.
For example, the bus operator Automobilverkehr Frutigen-Adelboden AG offers a round-trip ticket that enables you to travel to and from the vicinity of the gorge: you can, for example, travel to the stop in Tregel (in the direction of Frutigen) and reach the gorge after a short walk of around 15 minutes. After crossing the Choleren gorge, you can either walk up to the Ausserschwand school building (20 minutes) or walk along the small road to the Neuweg stop (15 minutes), from where you can take the bus back to Adelboden again.
The walk to the Choleren gorge can be combined with a visit to the Pochenkessel. This is where the Engstlige and the Otterebach watercourses meet in a deep rock funnel. Below the gorge, the "Jungbrunnen" or fountain of youth invites you to take a cold dip.
