A continuously ascending, well-signposted hiking trail, alternately across meadows and following the Milibach, ascending via Gäldried to Planlap.

From the train station in Brienz, follow the main road towards Interlaken. Soon you reach the Steinbock restaurant, where the signpost points right, uphill alongside the river. Follow this path up to the Catholic church, from where you follow Feldstrasse. The path now leads through residential houses and soon through meadows and fields towards Milibach. The path steadily ascends following the creek, after about 1 hour of walking you are rewarded by the sight of the Milibach waterfall. A steep section through the forest now follows towards the Gäldried station. The road then widens – following this, you have the choice to cut across using mountain hiking paths (these are steeper than the road). Once arrived at Planalp, a beautiful panorama of Lake Brienz and the surrounding mountain landscape opens up.

Directions & Parking facilities

Leave the motorway at the Brienz exit, then follow the main road towards Brienz train station. At Brienz train station, follow the signs towards Parking Rothorn.
Paid parking spaces available at the Brienz Rothorn Bahn.
