6.32 km long
Hiking Trail
The long Mountain Drive loop around Grimmialp is for those who have a good grip on the wheelchair and dare to take a longer tour with lots of natural roads.

Mountain Drive is an all-terrain wheelchair specially designed for natural mountain hiking trails, rough gravel and steps. Since September 2021, you can rent a Mountain Drive wheelchair at Camping Eggmatte on Grimmialp.

Our big round tour around the Grimmialp is suitable for all those who have a good grip on the vehicle and also dare a somewhat longer descent on natural roads. A highlight of the tour is the long ride through the cool forest, which has a really decelerating effect. A good opportunity to switch off your thoughts and immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of the forest.

Note: This tour has only been tested for the all-terrain wheelchairs of the "Mountain Drive" brand.

Info

Directions

You leave Camping Eggmatte on the access road and turn right at the end and follow the signposts "Grimmimutz", past the valley station of the Grimmialp chair lift. Shortly before the start of the Grimmimutz children's adventure trail, a tarred road leads off to the right. Follow it for a few metres until a path branches off to the left by the stream. It leads you up to lake "Blauseeli": a worthwhile detour! Ride back the same way to the start of the Grimmimutz adventure trail. Here, instead of following the adventure trail, continue along the paved road until you reach the stone pit. Turn sharp right here and follow the Schweiz Mobil mountain bike route along the natural road, slightly uphill through the wonderfully cool forest. We recommend taking the left lane for the ascent, it is easier to ride. The descent may take some courage, but is no problem with the Mountain Drive wheelchair. At the next forks, continue to follow the Schweiz Mobil mountain bike route to the bridge over the "Trüebbach". Here it's worth taking a scenic extra loop straight ahead in the direction of "Schlunegg". The road leads back to the stream and continues along the stream into the valley to "Geissboden", where you cross the bridge and rejoin the main road. Turn right onto the road and follow it up to Camping Eggmatte. Please ride on the far right-hand side so that you are seen by the traffic.

Safety guidelines

On the road section from the campsite to Senggiweid and from Geissboden back to the campsite you are on a road with cars. Please ride on the side of the road and make sure that you are seen by the traffic.

Equipment

Clothing appropriate to the weather, food for the road

Recommendation

We highly recommend the detour to small lake "Blauseeli". When there is no wind, the surrounding mountains are reflected in the deep blue water. It's worth taking one (or more) souvenir photos here.

Directions

Motorway A6 Bern direction Zweisimmen, 1 km after the Simmenfluhtunnel turn left direction Diemtigtal. Follow the Diemtigtal road into the valley for 18 km in the direction of Grimmialp, Schwenden. Shortly before Grimmialp, the road climbs and turns sharp left. Shortly afterwards, follow the signpost "Camping Eggmatte" on the right.

Take the train to Spiez and continue to Oey-Diemtigen station. Here you have to change to the post bus to the stop "Schwenden, Winteregg". You will reach Camping Eggmatte in a few hundred metres.
