The circular trail comprises four sections: the Strandweg (2.5 km), Höhenweg (5.5 km), Spiezwilerweg (4.5 km) and Rebenweg (1.5 km). All four paths offer beautiful walks in their own right; when linked together, they create the attractive course known as the «Spiez circular hiking trail», which is signposted with green squares. By far the most popular sections are the Strandweg and the Rebenweg; these are the shortest paths, generally flat with moderate climbs at most. The Höhenweg path, which runs from Faulensee to Hondrich, has a number of climbs before running downhill from Hondrich to Spiezwiler. Thanks to a busy network of bus routes (Faulensee also has a train station and landing stage), visitors can cut short their walk at any time. Cultural attractions along the way include Spiez Castle and Faulensee church, energy sources like the Katzenstein and Rüttistein and little-known places like the Spiezmoos dam and the Seeholzwald between Faulensee and Hondrich.
From Spiez station (628 metres), either walk (around 15 minutes) or take the Spiez mini train (in summer) down to the bay. Then follow the signposted lakeside path to Faulensee (560 metres). In Faulensee, cross the road and ascend to the Seeholzwald; walk through the forest and head to Hondrich (761 metres) via Dachstein. Proceed down to Spiezwiler, follow the Spiezwilerwald forest to Lattigen and the dam (624 metres). Ascend the Spiezberg via Spiezmoos Süd (625 metres), then follow the beautiful Rebenweg and head via the castle back to the starting point or up to the station.
