Thematic Trail

Countless witnesses to the proud art of carpentry characterise the face of our settlement landscape. Many of them, of course, lie hidden away from busy traffic routes...

With the marked house trails, the Bernese Heritage Society would like to make these treasures of local building culture accessible to a wider public and thus promote understanding for their preservation. The house trails are best explored on foot, partly on tarmac roads with little traffic and partly on nature trails. The numbered houses are located on official hiking trails and are marked with small brown signs. They contain the most important information about the house in question. Understandably, the house paths only touch a few gems in the landscape. In addition to the houses mentioned, there are many pretty houses along the way, as well as proud barns, wooden bridges, granaries, gardens, flowers, trees and forests with lush meadows. Depending on your stamina, desire and the time of year, you can hike all or parts of the house paths. Good footwear is required for some sections. The starting points are the railway stations and public transport stops.
