Enjoy an evening of authentic American folk and country music with Willie Nininger & Friends, live at Restaurant des Alpes.
Willie Nininger is a seasoned singer-songwriter with roots in the legendary New York City folk and country scene of Greenwich Village, where he performed regularly at iconic venues such as Folk City, The Bottom Line, and the Lone Star Café. Along the way, he shared the stage with music greats like Richie Havens, Ernest Tubb, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Jesse Colin Young, Levon Helm and Rick Danko of The Band, and John Sebastian of The Lovin’ Spoonful.
His career has taken him from writing songs for the Captain Kangaroo Show and appearing on Hee Haw to singing the U.S. National Anthem for the New York Mets at Shea Stadium. After many years living and performing in Switzerland, Willie settled in Connecticut in 2002 but continues to bring his heartfelt songs and storytelling to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.
Most recently, Willie returned to Manhattan for a reunion of the Lone Star Café—hosted by Kinky Friedman—where he shared the stage once again with old friends and fellow musicians, reviving the spirit of the legendary 5th Avenue honky tonk (famous for the giant papier-mâché iguana on its roof!).
Now, Willie Nininger brings that same spirit, humor, and warmth to Restaurant des Alpes for a special night of live music with friends. Expect a blend of original songs, folk, country classics, and plenty of stories from a lifetime in music.
