Marathon from Interlaken to the Eiger Glacier

The Jungfrau Marathon grew rapidly from day one and is now the world’s largest mountain marathon. Around half of the runners are from Switzerland, with the remainder arriving from 60 countries on all five continents. Join this breathtaking sports event and push your personal limits, or encourage the athletes to achieve their best as you cheer from the sidelines. The Jungfrau Marathon covers the traditional distance of 42.195 km, climbing to the Eiger Glacier at a stunning altitude of 1,953 m. The start signal is given in Interlaken on the Höheweg, right between the Grand Hotel Victoria-Jungfrau and the Höhematte. Spectators can enjoy the world-famous view of the Jungfrau from the race start in Interlaken, while athletes can admire this fascinating mountain and mentally prepare for the unique marathon that lies ahead.

Various Friday races

Would you prefer to take part in a less challenging race? No problem. The build-up to the Jungfrau Marathon starts the day before with the Jungfrau mini-run for children and young people up to 16 years. At the Jungfrau Minimarathon you can take your time as you explore some of the original marathon route over a distance of 4.2195 km. Whether young or a little older, whether at a fast or leisurely pace, the Jungfrau Minimarathon is open to all. Walkers and Nordic walkers are also welcome at this fun run around the Höhenmatte in Interlaken. With the Jungfrau-Harder Run Race, there is also a new and short mountain race up to the Harder Kulm (4.5 km and 750 m in altitude). The inclusion "never walk alone" for disabled athletes has high priority and is possible at every race. Besides, every participant of the Friday races is allowed to travel to Interlaken by public transport for free within Switzerland.
