The medium mountain drive tour suits you well if you already have some experience with a mountain drive wheelchair. The tour takes you around Grimmialp to the most beautiful points.

Mountain Drive is an all-terrain wheelchair specially designed for natural mountain hiking trails, rough gravel and steps. Since September 2021, a Mountain Drive wheelchair is available for rent at Camping Eggmatte on Grimmialp.

The middle Grimmialp tour is very varied. First it takes you through the scattered settlement of Grimmialp. From Senggiweide you will find yourself in the alpine area and forest. The second half of the trail leads along the valley hiking trail and thus always along the cool stream.

The route is mostly flat, and if there are any inclines, they are gentle. Only the last part on the tarred road climbs a bit more.

Note: This tour has only been tested for the all-terrain wheelchairs of the "Mountain Drive" brand.

Directions

Leave Camping Eggmatte on the access road and turn right at the end and follow the Grimmimutz signs past the valley station of the Grimmialp cable car to the start of the Grimmimutz children's adventure trail. Continue along the adventure trail until you reach the "witches' flight" post. Here you turn right and take the forest road that leads you back to the Grimmimutz starting point. After the barn (where the parking ticket machine is located), turn left into the small road and follow the next path to the left to the small lake "Blauseeli". After your stop, return along the same path and continue straight ahead along the Senggibach stream out of the valley. At Geissboden, a bridge leads across the stream to the right and then you turn right again onto the road that leads you back up to Camping Eggmatte. Please ride on the far right-hand side so that you are seen by the traffic.

Safety guidelines

On the road section from the campsite to Senggiweid and from Geissboden back to the campsite you are on a road with cars. Please ride on the side of the road and make sure that you are seen by the traffic.

Recommendation

We highly recommend the detour to the small lake "Blauseeli". When there is no wind, the surrounding mountains are reflected in the deep blue water. It's worth taking one (or more) souvenir photos here.

Directions

Motorway A6 Bern direction Zweisimmen, 1 km after the Simmenfluhtunnel turn left direction Diemtigtal. Follow the Diemtigtal road into the valley for 18 km in the direction of Grimmialp, Schwenden. Shortly before Grimmialp, the road climbs and turns sharp left. Shortly afterwards, follow the signpost "Camping Eggmatte" on the right.

Public transit

Take the train to Spiez and continue to Oey-Diemtigen station. Here you have to change to the PostBus to the stop "Schwenden, Winteregg". You will reach Camping Eggmatte in a few hundred metres.
