The pass route from the rear part of the Diemtigtal over the Scheidegg into the Simmental is little frequented. Unjustly so, as it offers unique nature experiences in a magnificent landscape. Mountain hiking trail from Würzi, hard surface only at the beginning and end of the route.

From the Grimmialp post bus terminus you walk on a flat road path to the Senggibach and follow it with a slight ascent on a forest track. From Würzi the incline noticeably increases. Over some hairpin bends you quickly gain height in the shady mountain forest and soon reach the extensive pastures of Alpetli. The panoramic view of the rear Diemtigtal offered here is enchanting. With every step the landscape seems to become wilder and more pristine. While on the right the rugged slopes of the Fromattgrat provide an impressive sight, the bizarre formations of the Spillgerte come into view on the left. After a short hairpin bend through a wide basin with fragrant mountain grass you suddenly stand at the pass summit of Scheidegg. The view stretches widely over the hills of the Simmental, above which the Gastlosen reign as a picturesquely jagged horizon. On an easy path, it goes to the Fromatthütte and then partly on a very steep alpine path covered with coarse gravel down into the valley. After crossing the Betelriedgraben, the route avoids the direct descent on the paved road by following the opposite slope and then directly down into the village of Blankenburg. The train station lies somewhat west outside the settlement area.
