The traverse from Schynige Platte via Faulhorn and Bachalpsee to First is world-famous. Nothing more needs to be said. Just walk!

"Six pearls in six hours: The high-altitude hike Schynige Platte – First is something you must do once in your life." What the Jungfrau tourist promoters promisingly advertise, holds true in reality. The pearls are: the flora on the meadows at the terminal station of the Schynige Platte railway; also the magnificent alpine garden; the wild karst landscape in the Güw area after the Loucherhorn; the Sägistalsee, which you don't pass by but can see sparkling down below; the Faulhorn, whose grandiose view of Lake Brienz on one side and the overwhelming backdrop of the Jungfrau massif on the other surpasses all; and the Bachalpsee, considered the "blue jewel" of the Bernese Alps. We would like to add a seventh pearl in the middle: the mountain inn Männdlenen. The rather simple but cozy mountain inn about an hour before the Faulhorn is worth a stop, if not even an additional overnight stay. Specialty: raclette melted over Rechaud candles.
