- petersX9455VEOctober 26, 2025 at 6:36 PMWould not ever go back.We had a extremely disappointing stay at the Hotel Metropole where we complained about a continuous noise on the second night in our room. After a trip to reception to complain a maintenance man came up and listened. He agreed and said it was very noisy, but it was noise from the pipes and nothing more could be done about it, but would let Reception know. We heard nothing back from Reception. On leaving we asked Reception if the complaint had been recorded only for out taxi arrive before we got an answer. Back at home we complained, only to be told there was no record of a complaint and no noise in the Hotel room. This is a shame as the views from the hotel are amazing, but the lack of customer care is truly awful and totally ruined our stay.More
- Beancounter40October 14, 2025 at 2:02 PMThe best views in Interlaken. My 91 year old father likes to visit Interlaken in September and for many years now we have stayed at the Metropole. The rooms are excellent, all with a balcony and a perfect view of the Jungfrau. Could not recommend more highly. We booked half board and ate in the top floor restaurant each evening and the food was very good. The staff are very thoughtful and go out of their way to make sure everyone is happy. Really could not fault the experience at all. Hope to return again.More

- Smiler34September 20, 2025 at 12:59 PMGreat stay, amazing location and staffLoved this hotel. It may not be a beauty queen to look at but we had a fantastic 7 night stay which we booked using Inghams. This high rise building is rather ugly looking from the outside but once you are inside it, it’s great. We had a spacious (not yet refurbished) room – No 12 which had a huge superking sized comfortable bed with individual duvets. There was plenty of storage space, a free safe and a TV with some English channels. WIFI was free and reliable. There was never much of a wait for the lifts and if we ever needed anything, Reception were most efficient and helpful. There was a large balcony and we loved watching the paragliders come in to land in front of the hotel. The view of the Jungrau was spectacular too. Most nights we had a turn down service with a chocolate on our pillows. There was a small Co op approx 1 min away, almost opposite the hotel and a larger Co Op about 4 mins walk away next to the Post office. Switzerland have unique adaptors and our European adaptor didn’t work. Reception lent us one. All the staff were friendly, professional and went out of their way to be helpful. We had half board (breakfast and dinner) and ate our evening meals at the Top O Met restaurant on 18th floor. The views were incredible of the Jungrau and the surrounding area of Interlaken. The restaurant staff were amazing, so kind, professional and great at their jobs – especially the Head Waiter Ibrahim. The food was delicious with large portions. We were impressed that the General Manager visited the restaurant every night to ensure guests were happy. He was most attentive.More
- K4424LHmichaelmSeptember 20, 2025 at 5:44 AMHotel Staff helpful and hotel in perfect locationHotel is in an ideal location within walking distances of many restaurants and shops. 15 mins walk to Interlaken Ost and 8 minutes to Interlaken West to catch train to Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen or Jungfrau. We had some issues with room first day and Christian was extremely helpful in relocating us to one of the renovated room quickly.More
- cillak2025September 18, 2025 at 12:19 AMHorribleOur experience was horrible. I had booked the hotel for the night before, so when we arrived the next morning our room would be available. I also informed the staff at the hotel, nothing was in the notes. However, when we arrived we were listed as "no show" our room was taken, I had requested a high floor at the front with balcony. They gave us a room on the first floor next to the maid's supplies. Room 11. It was horrible. The hotel needs to be renovated, carpets need to be changed, the bathroom does not lock. Location was central and good, but I would never come back to this hotel. Breakfast was included, but our schedule did not allow for us to have breakfast, the timing did not meet our needs. Hotel needs to be cleaner.More

- mehseens2025August 28, 2025 at 11:18 PMBest hotel in InterlakenThis is the only hotel I want to stay everytime I visit Interlaken. Crystal at front desk was amazing. She came all the way to our room to deliver cake as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. This hotel has amazing view and very well located. So many restaurants and shops within walking distance. Can’t get enough of this hotel. I wanna go back!More
- rachelaQ1031MFAugust 26, 2025 at 4:43 PMFantastic HotelMyself, husband and two adult children stayed at the Hotel Metropole for a week in mid-August. We booked with Inghams, and had a Queen and two singles on the fifth and sixth floors. Even though we had booked standard rooms, these two floors were refurbished in the winter. So all of our rooms were modern and furnished to a high standard. The view of the mountains from our balconies was stunning. When we arrived and opened the curtains, we were greeted by paragliders swooping down! The rooms had climate control, but this was ineffective in the heat wave. The reception was quick to supply fans, and despite the heat we were able to stay cool with these and with the balcony door open. As we were on the sixth floor, we could hear the noise from the street below, but not enough to disturb our sleep. All of the staff in the hotel were friendly, helpful and welcoming - the manager, the reception staff, restaurant staff and housekeeping team. Nothing was too much trouble. We were half board. Breakfast was plentiful and was well stocked whatever time we arrived. They were quick to replenish items and refill the coffee machine. We ate in the restaurant at the top of the hotel every night. The views are incredible. The restaurant staff were lovely and so helpful. The menu offered enough variety for us for the week. The food was always well presented and delicious. My daughter used the gym and the sauna and was impressed with these. The hotel is in a perfect location right in the centre of Interlaken and close to both railway stations. We used it as a base to visit Thun, Jungfraujoch, Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Wengen, Mannlichen, Grindelwald, Brienz, Meirlingen and the Aare Gorge. Overall we were really impressed with the hotel and would definitely recommend it, as well as returning.More

- Trail29023387878August 24, 2025 at 5:34 AM4 star hotel with 3 star facilitiesThis is a 4 start hotel as advertised on hotel management. The hotel offers good view of the mountains from our room window. The hotel staff were pleasant and welcoming. The breakfast was Ok. It’s walkable distance to both interlaken stations and it’s just opposite the park where paragliders land and it’s a delight to watch them… However we feel the following could be done to make it a 4 star hotel with the necessary facilities Old carpet to be removed and could do with a hard floor Old Safe to be replaced with a modern safe- I had to call technician to help us open it Bathroom appears modern but the shower with the shower curtain is pretty basic and it needs refurbishment.. There are not enough sockets or USB sockets The room doesn’t have an air conditioner and the fan provided to us wasn’t enough to cool us in a sunny day. Lifts are difficult to operate as despite the keycard use the lift doesn’t recognise our commands! Outside Toilets need a code and we didn’t bother to use it.. The hotel entrance is hidden by shops and offices although it’s a multi-storey hotel! Some of the Swiss Châlet hotels offers better facilities.More
- jayn71August 22, 2025 at 2:16 PMStay for the Amazing View and Forgive the ShortcomingsBreakdown -- Reception Staff and Check-In: Very welcoming and friendly. Always ready to assist. Room: Very dated (1967?) No A/C. Great spacious balcony and perfect view. We just left the balcony door wide open and the heat was not unbearable. They do provide a fan. No tub, tiny shower. Good water pressure. Tap water delicious and safe to drink. Beds/Pillows: Even in the unrenovated room, the bed was quite comfortable View - probably the best view in Interlaken. How delightful to wake up as the sun is reflecting off Jungfrau and the paragliders drift in like a dream. Breakfast: Functional. The offerings were average and exactly the same every day: 3 juices, coffee, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, potatoes, bacon. On the cold side: breads, cold cuts, cheese, fruits, chickpea salad, humus, maybe some nuts, dried fruit and yogurt. The kitchen seemed to stint on fruit (we kept having to request it). The staff did not actively stock the stations, there were many empty chafing dishes. Not the most inviting set-up. Staff seemed unhappy and a little worn-down. -- perhaps it's better to decline the breakfast and venture out somewhere else. Gym: very nice facility with sauna and excellent outdoor lounge area decorated thoughtfully with lavender, roses, hydrangea. Very lovely. Lobby Bar: Very thorough selection of spirits and nice cocktail menu. Knowledgeable bartender. Top o' Met Restaurant: Avoid. There are too many really great restaurants nearby that will provide enthusiastic service and fresh, enjoyable food. The view here is breathtaking - so come, snap a few photos, but eat somewhere else. Location: Excellent, walkable location in the heart of all the action. Easy walk to Interlaken Ost and West, the Ferries, the Funicular to Harder Kulm, and nearby Unterseen. Summation: I enjoyed my stay here! It was a decent value, great central location, and memorable views. It's not the most charming of the Swiss hotels, but I could see myself returning.More
- Cosmopolitan796666August 18, 2025 at 6:37 PMGreat hotel in central InterlakenThe Metropole is a great hotel in central Interlaken. Interlaken West is ten minutes walk away, and Ost 15-20 minutes, but it's an easy walk to both in good weather. We had a deluxe room on the 12th floor which was a decent if not massive size and also had a balcony onto the most fantastic view of the valley and mountain range beyond. (Plus a good view for the fireworks on National Day.) There's no air conditioning but a fan is provided, and the room was pretty much 25 degrees for the whole of our stay. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom well maintained with all expected facilities. The hotel has three main lifts, and the system to call them (where you state which floor you want and it tells you which lift to use) was very efficient and mostly worked very well. Staff are all very friendly. The breakfast room had a good selection of food for meat eaters and vegetarians. It's a bit pricey, but so is most of Switzerland, and if you want comfort while visiting Interlaken, this is a good option.More
- D6862QMmargaretmAugust 17, 2025 at 6:38 AMToo hot in the roomsThe hotel is dated; rooms are small with no ventilation and was so hot we could not sleep. They did provide fans, but it was miserable. Only redeeming part is the restaurant on the top floor which had a breeze and made it pleasant. Do NOT go to this hotel with no AC if it is in the summer months.More
- PixelstateAugust 3, 2025 at 1:12 PMRoom with a viewThis might be up there for one of the ugliest hotels (from the outside) that I have stayed in. It resembles a multi-story carpark and in many ways looks out of place in the town. We choose it for it's location as a base to explore this beautiful part of Switzerland (It sits neatly between Interlaken Ost and Interlaken West Train Stations and the Ferry terminals to explore the two lakes) - The rooms (ours was on the 5th floor) have outstanding views of the mountains - Try to secure a corner room if you are able as they seem a little larger. The staff were friendly and everything about the Hotel was clean and modern. The Key things to consider are: The lack of Air Conditioning in the rooms could be a problem in weather that is on the warmer side. It was 25 when we arrived, and the room quickly became very stuffy and warm. We opened up the patio door to circulate air, but you might experience some noise nuisance in this case. The Restaurant - It has amazing views but the menu was a little too restrictive for a stay of 6 nights (as ours was) - It seems more suited to catering for large coach parties, which stay 1-2 nights only Breakfast was, on the whole, good but if you arrive just after a coach party has eaten ahead of checking out you might find some foods (bacon, Sausages, Egg etc) have been emptied.. (They were not replaced in time for my need on one of the days) The bar was more often than not empty with very little in the way of atmosphere but a bar tender always seemed to appear when-ever I approached the bar (CCTV?) and served drinks that could be taken to the room. Summary - A fine hotel with great views and a handy location for exploring. No Air Conditioning can be a problem as the room was very stuffy. Food was as expected at this price but a little limited for longer stays. The balcony was great and it's a shame not to have tea and coffee making facility in the room to help enjoy a hot drink while watching the paragliding.More
- Grice-FearingAugust 3, 2025 at 12:56 PMIncredible view of the Jungfrau from our balcony!Staying here four nights with a group of 33 people, we had an absolutely spectacular view from our balcony of the Jungfrau. We also very much enjoyed seeing all the paragliders land in the field in front of the hotel. Location of this hotel is amazing. Breakfast was fairly good, but had coffee machines rather than fresh brewed coffee. Fruit ran out several times during our breakfast. Our rooms were not air conditioned, but that’s not unusual in Switzerland and we really didn’t need air conditioning. The tubs were a little hard to get into but the shower was nice.More
- 199afshandJuly 30, 2025 at 4:03 PMGreat hotel with spectacular views in InterlakenWe were in Interlaken 2 weeks ago and I had booked Hotel Metropole a few months back after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor. Checkin and checkout were both very quick and efficient and the staff were wonderful especially at checkin. Maryam at reception was so very helpful. We had arrived very early but wanted to leave our luggage and get on with our site seeing. She stored our luggage, checked us in and gave us maps and tips of what we could do in the area. We were on the 6th floor and our room had a balcony with great views of Jungfrau. Spacious rooms with comfortable beds. Our room seemed to have been recently renovated as it had a large closet and an excellent shower. There was no tea/coffee facilities in the room and that would have been a good touch if provided especially since there is a balcony. I could have enjoyed a cup of tea first thing in the morning on my balcony watching the paragliding in the park and the lovely view of the mountain. There’s a bus outside the hotel no 21 that can take you to the Interlaken ost station if you don’t want to walk in the heat if you’re visiting in summer. Our room had an AC. I highly recommend this hotel and will certainly stay there again.More
