Federal Celebration 1. August 2025

The "town on the water" celebrates its official national festival on the lakeshore on the Lindermatte near the Strandweg parking lot. From 5 pm, there will be a varied program for the whole family with music, refreshments and speeches. On the national holiday, the town leaves the floor and the microphone to the people. Thun residents are each given five minutes to give their personal August 1 speech on stage.

Thun blues musician Lucky Wüthrich performs with his trio at the Thun National Day celebrations. An alphorn player will also provide musical accompaniment to the celebrations. At the information stand for the 2028 Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival (ESAF), there will be a first taste of the big wrestling festival in Thun in three years' time. "Buurehamme" and "Chäsbrägel" will cater for the physical well-being of festival visitors and the large 1 August bonfire will make children's eyes light up.
