Rossini composed the mass in 1863 for a private chapel in Paris - intimate scoring, but 90 minutes long. A mixture of irony, humor and religious seriousness, inspired by Bach and French influences. Today it is considered one of the most original sacred works of the 19th century.
The performance by the Laudate Choir Thun is a rediscovery of this rarely performed work.
