An oasis of relaxation in Unterseen near Interlaken

Treat yourself to some time out and discover wellness experiences in nature to refresh the body and soul. The lovingly designed spa area in the SALZANO Hotel & Spa invites you to leave your everyday life behind and immerse yourself in a world of relaxation.

The alpine spa oasis combines traditional craft with modern elegance and offers you a unique feel-good experience. A particular highlight is the heated panorama jacuzzi pool, where you can relax beneath the open sky and enjoy the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. Let the warm water caress you and feel your body and soul relax.

Treat yourself to a rejuvenating massage or an exclusive beauty treatment. Whether a herbal peel with alpine plants, a relaxing woodland massage with Lombach footbath or a revitalising spa treatment, here you’ll find complete relaxation. The fresh woodland air, the soft chirping of the birds and the power of nature will help you switch off.

Experience unique saunas, such as the panorama sauna, where you can sweat it out at 90 degrees Celsius with a clear view of the Eiger’s impressive north face. The alpine, matured timber from the Bernese Oberland, promises a truly authentic atmosphere. The Swiss pine bio sauna is a little more gentle. Here the pinewood essential oils unleash their calming effect, while a moderate 60 degrees and damp air envelop your senses.

In the dry Brechelbad sauna, the scent and sensation of fresh pine needles underfoot improve the circulation. The temperature increases slowly, encouraging an intense sweat without putting strain on the circulatory system. The Swarovski steam bath rounds off your experience: At approximately 45 degrees, high humidity and the steam bath’s amazing effects will stimulate all of your senses.

Between sessions, you can find peace and tranquillity in the stylish quiet room with view of the mountains and roaring fire. Here you can take a deep breath and top up your energy levels.

    Not up to expectations
The Deluxe room with balcony was disappointing in it’s size, old wood furniture, and old-style bathroom (tub with shower, small sink). We used the walk in showers at their spa which were modern and much nicer. Robes and slippers are provided in your room and the spa is just across from the main building. The outdoor, heated to 30 degrees Celsius, spa pool was the best thing about this hotel. Inside the spa is a sauna and steam room, showers and a serene relaxation area. The Salazano boasts a supposedly 2022 Michelin starred restaurant, but the food, while good, was not Michelin-level quality. The best thing about it was its convenience. Breakfast was included and was good. The biggest drawback is this hotel does not have air-conditioned rooms. Our room, even though on the 3rd floor (which is their top floor), was stuffy and hot, never getting below 24 degrees celsius (75 degrees Fahrenheit) even with the fan they provided. Interlaken just does not get the cool night breezes of the higher mountain areas. If I go back, I will choose a hotel with AC as a good nights sleep is worth the extra cost.

    Pleasant expierience
Good little bistro. Tartar was nice, fine small wine selection. The main course i had was chicken, which was quite bland and the vegatable garnish was very noticeably unevenly salted.

    The Best!
We recently spent 4 nights at Salzano and it was the best 4 nights of our trip. The staff, the room, the atmosphere were all perfect. If you are on the fence as to whether to stay here or not, do not hesitate. We had a car, so the issue of getting into town was not a problem for us. The ladies at the front desk were helpful and gave great advice. We even asked for a packed lunch one day and they had it all ready for us as we left for our adventure of the day. We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the stars in the evening. The view was relaxing. We left the doors to the balcony open a bit at night. I can't say enough. It was perfect! Thank you to all at the Salzano Hotel!

    Car Strongly Advised
Without a car, we realized too late that Salzano wasn’t the most practical base for exploring the Bernese Oberland via public transportation. It’s located on the outskirts of Interlaken and is only reachable by Bus #21, which runs just twice an hour and is often extremely crowded. For travelers relying on trains and buses, Salzano is not the most convenient choice. However, for those with a car and those who are seeking a peaceful retreat away from the tourist crowds, it can be a lovely option. The Positives: Tranquil Location: Salzano is situated in a quiet suburb of Interlaken, which can be a real plus if you're looking to escape the busyness of the town. Beautiful Surroundings: The hotel is surrounded by open farmland, lush greenery, grazing sheep, goats, and cows—with stunning mountain views in every direction. Outdoor Whirlpool: The garden whirlpool tub is a standout feature—peaceful, scenic, and the perfect spot to unwind while watching paragliders drifting over the nearby peaks. Restaurant: The on-site restaurant is excellent for dinner — cozy ambiance, inventive dishes made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, garden-fresh herbs and house-baked bread. Warm Hospitality: The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, making us feel truly welcome and cared for. Charming Room: Our room had a warm, natural wood interior that felt cozy and calming. We also appreciated the in-room coffee and tea station. The Negatives: Car Strongly Advised: Getting to and from Salzano without a car was a hassle. Bus #21 from Interlaken OST is the only option, and it’s infrequent and overcrowded. We later discovered that Interlaken West station is about a 25-minute walk away via a scenic trail through open fields—a pleasant walk, but not ideal with luggage or in bad weather. Isolated: There are no restaurants, cafes, or shops in the immediate area apart from the hotel’s own restaurant. Missing Amenities: No hand or body lotion in the room — an odd omission for a hotel with spa features. Additionally, the water pressure in the shower could have been better. View from Room: Our room overlooked a couple of car dealerships and a gas station. Fortunately, the majestic mountain backdrop helped minimize this visual downside. Price Point: For what’s offered, the hotel is quite expensive.

A very warm welcome and an excellent hotel.
All staff went out of their way to make us welcome and comfortable. The double room was clean and very well equipped with a lovely balcony and bathroom. The dining room is cosy with excellent food and outstanding service. The breakfast was also excellent and varied. The spa was amazing and very welcome with a huge sunny area to chill out after a sauna and steam bath. Bathrobes and slippers were provided. Highly recommended.

    Excellent Experience
This hotel exceeded our expectations. The location is beautiful right in the mountains a little outside the village of Interlaken. The hotel itself is so authentic and the service was outstanding. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The restaurant and the spa as part of the hotel were very convenient, and we had incredible experiences at both of them. The food at restaurant was delicious, and the spa was so clean, relaxing, and lovely. The room was also spacious, and had a beautiful view of the spa and garden. The hotel also includes free public transportation, which was a a game changer. The hotel was only minutes away from all the nearest attractions/places. If we ever go back to Interlaken, we will be staying here again.

    Amazing family owned hotel
This hotel was great! The restaurant was delicious and the spa was so relaxing. The thing that made this place amazing were the people that work there. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. One person in particular always went above and beyond to help us and always had a smile on her face and that was Yasamin. She made us feel like family.

    Fantastic
Rooms were comfortable with a view that was breathtaking. Staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Short stroll to bus stop with short ride to train station. We used our stay there for a base camp. Most destinations were accessible by short train ride. If ever I find myself back in Switzerland I will gladly stay at this property again
