The dialect rock band Span hits the nail on the head: "I gloube i gange no meh a Louenesee". The romantic mountain lake is always worth a hike. It does not require any special skills, making it an ideal family outing. Some sections are on hard surfaces.

Three hiking routes lead from Lauenen to Lauenensee. This proposal considers the two with the least amount of hard surfacing and combines them into a circular hike. At the starting point of the route at the Lauenen, Rohrbrücke bus stop, note the signposts Rohr – Lauenensee. This means turning left immediately after the bridge. A level route leads along a forest road first following the Louwibach, later a footpath through the forest to Rohr. Then it ascends to Lauenensee. This section is signed as "Clean Forest Park Hangenen Fang." Several panels provide explanations about nature and the environment. At the lake, a rest area with a fire pit offers an opportunity to relax. The hike then continues on the lake circuit path counterclockwise. Along the way, the view of the two waterfalls Tungelschuss and Geltenschuss is worth seeing. At the signpost near the Lauenensee restaurant, turn right towards Legerlibrügg. Here the route briefly follows a forest road, then across pastureland to Vorsass/Vorschess to the highest point of the hike. Then follow the sign Lauenen. Alternating on a path over meadows, alp tracks, and a forest road, the route leads down to Usseri Tüffi. Shortly after this group of houses, turn left into the forest towards Rohrbrücke. After a final forest section, the hike ends at the Lauenen, Rohrbrücke bus stop.
