It is recommended to start the hike with a five-minute detour. This leads from the mountain station past the mountain house along the ridge to the summit of Niederhorn, which offers a wonderful panoramic view of Lake Thun, the Alpine panorama, and Justistal. On the flat 15-minute path to the small lake in the Hochseil, the magnificent panorama is always visible. From afar, you can already see the alpine huts on Oberburgfeld. In July and August, there is a refreshment option there. You might also watch the alpine dairyman making cheese. If you are lucky, you will spot eagles, bearded vultures, chamois, foxes, or in the lower part, also roe deer. The path continues downhill, first through open forest to Alp Unterburgfeld, where the wonderful view can be enjoyed: Waldegg, part of Lake Thun, and the area from Interlaken to Wilderswil are visible. A relatively steep mountain path leads down through the forest. If you are not afraid of heights, you can make a detour to Birenfluh and enjoy the wonderful view of Beatenberg. This detour takes 45 minutes. When leaving the forest, the village area Waldegg and Spirenwald are visible from a distance. The PostBus goes back to Interlaken or to the Niederhorn valley station. Public transport provider STI.
