Schynige Platte - Oberberghorn - Schynige Platte

The hiking trail starting point at Schynige Platte is located at the mountain restaurant just above the railway station. First, a few steps go upwards, then the path branches off left towards the west and runs along the slope to the Tuba viewpoint. Now follows a magnificent panoramic hike to the Oberberghorn: On the left, Lake Brienz appears as a blue-green jewel, on the right the view wanders over the impressive trio of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. From there, the path leads below the alpine garden directly back to the mountain station. Alpine garden: A detour to the alpine garden is definitely worthwhile. The alpine flowers shine in lush colors and emit their spicy fragrance. The almost one-kilometer-long course through the alpine garden offers an excellent insight into the impressive biological richness of the Alps. The plant species that thrive in their natural environment are marked with a board. This way, even laypeople find it easy to distinguish between Koch’s gentian and spring gentian. And anyone who wants to admire an edelweiss finally will also come to their delight. The entrance is right at the mountain station of the cog railway. The alpine garden is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Admission is included in the train ticket. The approximately 600 plant species on display bloom in succession.
