In March, the first warm sun rays beckon and many feel a strong urge to go outside. But where to go in March? A secret tip is a trip near Wimmis. There, after the snow melts, the spring snowflakes bloom at the foot of the Niesen. From the station in Wimmis, follow the hiking trail towards Bächlen/Diemtigen. Pass the church and the stately castle, leave the upper village and soon reach the Spissi, the meadows between Burgflue and Niesen. Depending on the snowmelt, the first snow or spring snowflakes appear already at the edge of town. On the meadows before and after the tank barrier, the white flowers bloom in clusters. From Spissi towards Chessel, the path up to the forest entrance is lined by an old stone wall and a beautiful row of trees. Also in the forest, you will find numerous blooming spring snowflakes on both sides of the path. Now the trail goes up through the forest to Chessel. Here there may still be some last snow. The following spring hike from Chessel is lovely, across still bare meadows and past old Diemtigtal farmhouses, via Zünegg to Oey.
