Even the cable car ride is an experience: it offers a view of the unspoiled Gasteretal. Thanks to its location, it has been able to preserve its character. Here the Kander can flow freely and form meanders. At the start of the route, the mountain station of the aerial cableway, follow the signpost to Spittelmatte. You reach it via alpine pastures gently downhill on an alpine path. The route initially marked as a hiking trail leads gently downhill over alpine pastures. At Spittelmatte, turn left towards Gasteretal and leave the path towards Gemmipass. This was an important mule track in the Middle Ages. Later, tourists were carried in sedan chairs or driven in small carriages. At Stierebärgli, take the mountain hiking trail to the right into Gasteretal. This leads steeply downhill through forest and loose coniferous woodland. Gasteretal harbors a variety of flowers, some of them rare species. At the Hotel Waldhaus, a look back at the Geltebachfall is worthwhile. It is impressive how the Geltebach springs from a cave in a high rock face and falls down in a waterfall. Now the route, again marked as a hiking trail, leads through the Chluse. Soon the aerial cableway is visible. In short, you reach the destination of the hike, the Sunnbüel valley station bus stop at Eggeschwand.
