From Matten station, first follow the yellow-marked signs to Mattenhalte. From the crossroads Mattenhalte at P.1200, continue on a white-red-white marked hiking trail towards Höuweggli. Up through the forest, which is left shortly before the alpine settlement Gfell. Here the view gradually opens to the upper Simmental and especially to the pretty Färmel valley. On an alpine road, continue over the Dachbode with its scattered alpine huts. At the last hut (P. 1574), choose the path towards Grimmifurggi and soon reach a beautiful trail. Through a sparse fir forest, you reach the crossroads Allmi. Turn left towards Höuweggli. Now the ascent becomes steep, and the path is partly exposed in the following section, requiring caution especially when wet. The view is always captivating, overlooking the Färmel valley, the towering Albristhore, and the increasingly dominant rock towers of the Spillgerte and the forelying Brunni- and Chörbelihore. Passing the alpine hut Inners-Höuweggli, after about 3½ hours the Höuweggli pass height is reached at 2074 m. Now it is just 10 minutes more on a path to the summit of the Mieschflue.
Back at the pass height, turn left and descend from the crossroads Ussers-Höuweggli (P.1966) towards Blankenburg. At the alpine huts Vehsattel (P.1711), follow an alpine road for a few minutes. Shortly after the crossroads P.1638, don’t miss the turn of the hiking trail to the left into the forest. A beautiful descent through the forest follows, later winding down numerous switchbacks with wonderful views towards Zweisimmen. When the road is reached, follow along the Betelriedbach for about 20 minutes to Blankenburg station.
