An excursion to the Saanenland is always worth a trip. The journey with the Lötschberger through the Simmental and the MOB over the snow-covered Möser to Gstaad is already exciting. The subsequent walk along the wintry Gstaad promenade and the ride with the old Eggli cable car provide variety. The highlight is the winter hike described below. Easy winter hiking trail from the Eggli cable car mountain station down to Gstaad.

The Eggli-Videmanette winter sports area has developed in recent years into one of the main attractions for winter sports in the Saanenland. Day visitors from the lowlands are rather few guests. The mountain is therefore very popular with locals and holiday guests from Gstaad.

The winter hiking trail starts right at the cable car exit. After a short descent to the ski lift, the path climbs over a gentle ridge up to the Vorderes Eggli. The ascent is pleasant and there is time to enjoy the ever-improving view or admire the beautiful turns of the skiers. Shortly after the mountain station of the ski lift, you reach the highest point. The view of the Gummflue and the surrounding Saanenland is breathtaking.

The winter hiking trail turns here and leads along the north flank back to the gondola. In the first part, there are two short steep sections. Hiking poles are advantageous here. Then the path leads away from the ski slopes through wonderfully snow-covered, untouched winter landscape. Shortly before the mountain station, you cross the wide and clearly visible ski slope.

A rest on the terrace of the mountain lodge is recommended. During the high season, however, you should reserve a place before the winter hike. Those who want to enjoy the sun a little longer here can take the gondola back down to the valley. Otherwise, the descent from Eggli via Flüemad – Moosfang to the valley station is also highly recommended as a winter hike. The pleasant descent on the snowy summer road can be done on foot or by sled. From Moosfang to the valley station you walk, depending on the snow situation, on the road or the prepared winter hiking trail Gstaad – Gsteig.
