    Innovative Menu and Excellent Service
We enjoyed an excellent dinner on New Year's Day 2020 at this tastefully designed restaurant. The talented chef has curated an innovative menu with interesting twists to several dishes, including the burger and steak. The dessert spread is extensive and I really enjoyed the seasonal chestnut cream with plum sorbet and crunchy pieces of plums. Service was great and dog-friendly.

Nice Setting for a cup of coffee
We were visiting the Thun Castle and were not hungry however we wanted some cappuccinos. In the courtyard of the castle, we took an outdoor seat at the restaurant and were promptly attended to by a waiter. We ordered two cappuccinos and they were served within minutes; both were delicious. While they were not the cheapest cappuccinos, the setting of the table in the courtyard more than made up for it. Nice place to catch your breath.

Great presentation with unique ambiance... Although service is a bit slow, foods are worth to wait.. nice wine selection as well.

    Slowest service
The food was good, the service was insanely slow, even for the simplest things (some of which were forgotten altogether). Also, a cappuccino is not a simple coffee with a bit of foam on top!!!

Great location, condescending service, mediocre food
Had a reservation for 25th of December and even though l confirmed the booking in the morning and then valled again later in the afternoon to inform them that we were running late, when we arrived they couldn’t find out reservation. We eventually, got a table given it was Christmas and not many other places were open that night. The menu reads very well, but the food does not deliver. It’s mediocre at best. Staff was consistently condescending from start to finish. Not a place l would recommend or come back to.

    Great food
Great food, vegetarian friendly with wonderful staff! Very nicely located. I highly recommend this restaurant even if you don't visit the castle.

Great view, poor service, average food.
We’ve been visiting Thun in a day trip from Bern to Interlaken and heard great things about the city, the cafes around river Aare as well as the old church and castle and were actually happy when we figured we could even eat dinner nearby in the restaurant “Schlossberg”. On the first glimpse the interior seemed cold and too modern for one of the eldest and historic places in Thun but we were still confident. Unfortunately the menu was even more of a suprise: pretty average with no real tratitional regional food but average dishes made look regional like “Simmental” beef which we googled to be a valley nearby, lots of dishes in “Brickteig” dough that we didn’t know and BEObeef I had never heard of before. Even more surprisingly service was unable to explain most of the dishes and we had to choose blind. The “Brickteig” actually turned out to be Brik (very thin crispy wheat dough just like the one in Turkish Borek). We could have guessed that but strange enough even in German it’s Brik-Teig - probably just spelled differently on the menu to be “special”? The BEObeef was just a piece of beef. Same thing there? The beef was cooked (grilled) to point but the “Grostel” which seems to be a vegetable potato pan was cold an lagging seasoning. It’s a pity the meals could not be explained by the service but even worse was their reaction when I expressed my honest opinion about the temperature of the vegetable pan: The waitress just left the table without saying a word and a woman turned up that didn’t even introduce herself but seemed to be the boss or service leader, defensively telling us off for not being intelligent enough to read the menu. Well, it seems to be made for people from the region only, not for tourists. I have to admit the restaurants in Interlaken and Lausanne we visited later on our trip seemed to be more tourist oriented. Let’s see if we manage to invite my friends from Bern to go there again on our return trip. I hope they will be able to understand the menu. I would love to see whether we’ve really been too “unintelligent” to see through. To us the restaurant itself was too modern for the place it is in, the menu haut de cuisine “white” labeled regional trying to make average food look special and the service really ruined it unfortunately.

    Dinner on the Terrace
We had a great dinner on the terrace the day we arrived in Switzerland. We had the veal and lamb for our main dish. Both were very, very good. The wine list was interesting with many choices at all price ranges. The staff were helpful in navigating the menu and dessert was great as well. Definitely worth the walk up the hill, the courtyard is beautiful.
