Restaurant Laterne Interlaken

Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, Restaurant Laterne in a marvelous treat that I highly recommend on your visit to Interlaken. There's seating inside and out... we chose inside because of the incredibly homey feel and lovely Swiss decor. Tina, our server, was positively delightful and so helpful. We ordered the Raclette and the Schweinssteak. Both were incredibly delicious, with the side of spaetzel the absolute star in my opinion. This is a great place and we can't wait to return.

A great spot for local cuisine, this is a very welcoming family run restaurant. The extensive menu includes specialties such as schnitzels and rosti, but there are enough choices that anyone can find something to their liking. Portions are ample. We enjoyed the outdoor terrace and liked the food so much that we came back a second time.

Great neighborhood spot with a family feel to it. The house-blend cheese fondue was great as were the main dishes. Highly recommended.

Fantastic food. This restaurant is a real gem in Interlaken. We visited twice during our stay and the food was amazing both times. The menu offers some local cuisine to try and the rosti is excellent. Staff were so friendly and helpful, especially making sure the kids were happy. Wonderful outside seating area. It really was superb and we can't wait to go back next time.

Adorable restaurant, super cute inside and beautiful view outside. There was 6 of us. We had the beef steak, veal cordon blue, pork schnitzel, pasta with cream sauce and apples, the asparagus and salmon. All super tasty!! Ambience was very nice and the waiter was kind. The staff super accommodating and fast! They gave us a handful of candies at the end of dinner too! We will be going back before our end of our trip.

Tucked in a residential neighborhood a few blocks down from the main street. Came without reservations and were seated in a pleasant spot without a wait. Very attentive server who was also the hostess made recommendations that highlighted the mushrooms and asparagus dishes. Food was prompt and delicious, atmosphere was a busy family run Swiss chalet. Prices average for Interlaken. All in all, a well enjoyed dinner!

We were referred to Laterene by the sales lady at Interlaken Ost train station. When she heard that I wanted to eat Fondue, she said it is the best restaurant in Interlaken. We walked there from Interlaken Ost train station and found it easily. Being Switzerland - everything is quite pricey. however, we decided on a fondue and tap water. I was quite taken aback that we had to pay for the tap water. In South Africa this would never happen. The fondue was fantastic. I will highly recommend this restaurant.

We had an evening meal with friends and family. A traditional Swiss restaurant with an excellent menu. Our meals were truly amazing and therefore we would have liked to have given five stars, however our male waiter was unfriendly and rude throughout the evening which was disappointing and not necessary. Such a shame as everything else was perfect.

We were recommended this restaurant by Philip our Air bnb host. Such a gem in nice residential area. The food is wonderful. We have tried the rosti in a number of places during our trip and this is the best! They also serve a special butter with your bread which is so tasty but they won’t tell us what’s inside. It’s a secret 😂. Please go early to get a table. We arrive at 6.15pm and there were still many tables available. By 7pm they were almost full. Service was great! She was very helpful with our orders. Just be patient if the restaurant gets crowded as there’s only 2 service staff. I think that this should be the number one restaurant in Interlaken in terms of local cuisine!

Laterne was recommended to us by our AirBnB host as it was a short walk from our apartment. It’s a lovely cosy restaurant with typical Swiss cuisine. We ordered the Laterne Rosti, which came with a good portion of grilled chicken breast. The potatoes and chicken was both really good. Well seasoned. The other order was the Chateaubriand for two. Large portions with well grilled meat. Personally I thought it would have been much better without the bearnaise sauce. The highlight for us was the seasoned butter that came with the complimentary bread. The butter was creamy with bits of favourings that made it really special. We tried to find out what was in the butter but was politely informed it’s a secret 😂 Overall we had a wonderful dinner. Prices are also very reasonable by Swiss standards.

We were an adult family of 4 currently traveling Switzerland and beyond. Our reservation was recommended by our hotel and we had an absolutely wonderful dinner. We had the veal schnitzel and the veal cordon blue. All meals came with rosti (Swiss potato specialty) and they were equally delicious. Desserts were amazing. The service was friendly, personable, and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant is not in downtown Interlaken and requires a bus to get to. I called multiple times to make a reservation and after asking for a table, they would say okay and then hang up. I was very confused and kept calling and getting hung up on. For some reason, I still decided to show up, and turns out they had a no-name reservation for the same amount of people I asked for - no time for the reservation either. How they could confirm it was mine was beyond me... so confusing. I got the fondue and the raclette, which was recommended but nothing to call home about. Just basic and ordinary - can't recommend it. And the service was horrible, there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant except for another lady when she felt like helping out. And even though I kept asking for my bill, I kept getting waved off and ended up missing the bus I needed to get back to my hotel (the next one was a 45-minute wait). I left very frustrated. I saw all the great reviews on Google when I looked this place up, but after I looked at the reviews on Trip Advisor, which are much more along the lines of the same experience I had.

Had a lovely cheese fondue here. Very polite and helpful English speaking waitress. The restaurant is a 10 min walk from the center and was full of locals. Also the trilingual menu is a plus and the choice of wines is broad. The ambience is Swiss, and not in the cheesy way, pun intended. Overall a really good restaurant with a great cheese fondue.
