Restaurant Weisses Kreuz, Brienz

My daughter and I had a delightful meal here after a ferry ride from Interlaken. We needed to catch a train to Bern so we were looking for someplace close. Everything was perfect - food, service, atmosphere. It’s just steps away from the train station so that was great. We are Americans so still getting used to people smoking in public spaces but the outside option helped. I had fish and chips and my daughter had schnitzel. The food was delicious and presentation nice. Be sure to save room for dessert!

Nice menu, good food, pleasant efficient service. Nice setting overlooking the lake. Big outdoor and indoor area. Schnitzel good, pommes frites good, salads good. We are there twice. Recommend.

Was here today with my kids. Horrible service. Staff totally overstrained. Had to clean my table by myself. Never again.

After reserving a dinner table for 10 people we arrived in time to enjoy a family meal. As we arrived the table was incompletely prepared and too small. No big thing but other groups had a neatly prepared table. After eye rolling from the manager another table was added and the guests wanting to dine there had to change table. Service was overwhelmed since somehow all groups were made to appear at the same time. Food from the plate dropped on my shirt when we were served and they didn’t even notice. To top it all off we were charged for tap water even tough we were a group of ten people spending good money for the evening. The food itself was good, otherwise I would have given one star.

Ate lunches here and stopped for coffee when we missed the boat, train or bus. Ideally situated for transport connections in the area. Staff very friendly and toilets clean. Lots of seating outside with lovely views of the lake and the comings and goings of Brienz.

This place is by far one of the best places if you want to enjoy a traditional suisse breakfast best place to visit with your friends and family

We stopped in for lunch because the bistro next door was closed. Nice balcony view of the lake. Menu was a little on the expensive side, but the specials on the lunch menu not as bad. Had fish special 12 small pieces of battered and fried with a rice plate and vegetables. Served with bread 21.00 chf plus a 3.50 charge to split with my wife. Had a bier and glass of white wine with it so we didn’t need the 6.00 tap water. Food was excellent but still much more than what we would have paid for the bistro next door had it been open.

Food was wonderful. There were lunch specials. Everyone liked their choices. I had dessert for my lunch! The apple streusel was divine. There was some confusion when our waitress questioned those who ordered water. She wanted to know if they wanted a large or small glass of water. Imagine our surprise when we were charged for the tap water.

We came for a short stop before our trip with the adjacent Brienz-Rothorn cog railway. Service personnel was very, very friendly and helpful. Coffees and Gipfeli were ok and just perfect for us.
