5 Tips for sunny weather

5 tips for a relaxing stay in good weather in the Holiday Region Interlaken

After the rain comes the sun. The minute the sun shines on the Holiday Region Interlaken, you feel the awakening of spring in every sense. It’s time to get out and explore the region – on a stroll, by bike, with a city tour or on a hike. Here we share 5 great tips for sunny days.

Tip 1: Iseltwald lakeside path

How about an idyllic stroll alongside Lake Brienz. This path along the banks of Lake Brienz from the fishing village of Iseltwald to the Giessbach Falls takes around an hour and a half. Along the way you pass through a forest that will enchant you with its deep green tones. If you wish, you can take a short break for refreshments at the Glooten picnic area before carrying on to the thundering Giessbach Falls.

Tip 2: Cycling tour of the town

Cycling is a great way to discover Interlaken, the Bödeli (as the area between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz is affectionately known) and the banks of both lakes. Rent a bicycle or an e-bike and ride off by yourself or with a local guide.

Tip 3: "Sensuous Thun" guided city tour

As spring awakens, there is no better time to discover a city with all your senses. In the company of your guide on the themed "Sensuous Thun" tour, you will not only cover the main landmarks of the town, but also pick up a wealth of fascinating facts about Thun through its smells and tastes, and through your senses of hearing and touch.

Tip 4: Panoramic views on a circular route around Lake Thun

For experienced hikers, the Panorama circular route offers the chance to circumnavigate Lake Thun and explore more of the region in four stages over several days. Of course, you can also opt to complete individual stages instead. The first stage leads from Thun, tracking the right bank of Lake Thun as far as Sigriswil. Stage two passes Merligen on the way to the St. Beatus caves before proceeding to the town of Interlaken. The third section leads you to the other side of the lake and heads west towards Spiez, passing the pretty Faulensee. Last but not least, the fourth stage brings you back to Thun. Throughout the route, you will enjoy fabulous views of the Bernese Alps and deep blue Lake Thun.

Tip 5: Waterfalls by Lake Brienz

The Lake Brienz region is renowned for its wealth of waterfalls. The best known of these is surely the aforementioned Giessbach Falls, which roar down over 400 metres in 14 cascades (and are easily reached by boat). You will also have a golden opportunity to stand behind the waterfall and witness this natural spectacle right up close. For those thinking of combining their visit with a hike, the "Three Waterfalls Trail" is ideal. The route, which takes around five hours, encompasses the Erschwanden waterfall and the Milibach waterfall as well as the Giessbach Falls.
