Tranquil path by Lake Brienz

The trail from Iseltwald to the Giessbach Falls is particularly appealing: the beautiful lakeside path is one of the loveliest not just in the Bernese Oberland, but anywhere in Switzerland. The route runs alongside the emerald Lake Brienz before winding through an enchanting forest of deep green. You reach the thundering Giessbach Falls in around an hour and a half. From Giessbach, scheduled boat services transport you on to Brienz, or back to Iseltwald or Interlaken.

Experience nature at Weissenau, near Interlaken

Starting at Interlaken West, this invigorating and varied route traces the banks of the River Aare to shimmering Lake Thun. Along the way, you take in wide fields, green pastures and peaceful woods. The impressive nature reserve of Weissenau begins at the midway point. The medieval castle ruins in the midst of the green idyll are genuinely eye-catching. The route continues stretches the lake via a pathway and a wooden footbridge, and extends to the beautifully situated lakeside park at Neuhaus.

Relaxation between Niederried and Interlaken

Another undemanding walk by beautiful Lake Brienz extends from Niederried to Interlaken. On this route, you appreciate the characteristically turquoise tones of the lake up close. The varied route snakes along the lakefront from Niederried before traversing idyllic landscapes as far as Interlaken. You will pass through shady woods and encounter inviting barbecue and bathing spots, enjoying superb views of the lake and the mountains all the way.

Easy lakeside path from Spiez to Faulensee

The dreamy lakeside path between Spiez and Faulensee invariably offers wonderfully panoramic views of deep blue Lake Thun and the majestic peaks of the Bernese Oberland. The path, which is more than 100 years old, is graced by several sculptures and 50-plus benches where people chat, laugh and enjoy picnics. Every bench has a brass plaque engraved with words of wisdom.

Magical moods on the banks of Lake Thun

Bonstettenpark

The banks of Lake Thun are something of a gem close to the town. This diverse tour leads from Thun station to the magnificent Schadau Park, after which the path passes under mighty oaks until reaching the Thun lido. What is arguably the prettiest section of the path then proceeds to Bonstettenpark. From the evocative wooden footbridge, you can admire the protected moorland, the glassy waters of the lake, the numerous aquatic birds and, of course, the breathtaking views of the mountains. The mood here is magical at any time of year.
