The Holiday Region Interlaken is a real water paradise. Numerous bathing spots around Lake Thun and Lake Brienz offer you the opportunity to relax and invigorate yourself. Some lidos offer direct access to the lake, while others have pools with incredible views. Discover our lidos and open-air pools and enjoy the cool water on hot summer days.
If you’d rather not dip your toes in the refreshing waters, you can explore the beautiful lakes on a boat trip instead. There are innumerable natural wonders in every direction. Marvel at the Giessbach Falls and the picturesque fishing village of Iseltwald on Lake Brienz and visit the fairytale castles and villages that surround Lake Thun.
Canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, wakeboarding, sailing and much more. You’re guaranteed to find the perfect way to enjoy the waters of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The huge range of water activities offers something for water rats of all ages. You’re bound to be awed by the views of the surrounding mountains too.
There are several gushing waterfalls to marvel at in the vicinity of the two lakes. For instance, the imposing Giessbach Falls on the shore of Lake Brienz, or the Milibach Waterfall in Brienz, which dominates the townscape of the woodcarving village. The Pochten Falls is also highly recommended. The thundering waters of the mountain stream plunge 80 m down into the depths of the Suldtal valley.
Small lakes amid a landscape of massive peaks are particular attractions. You will find two idyllic mountain lakes offering a variety of hiking trails in the picturesque Stockhorn area. The mysterious Hinterburgseeli is hidden away on the Axalp, above Lake Brienz. The Burgseeli is situated in Ringgenberg above Interlaken, where an attractive lido in an idyllic location awaits you.
The nostalgic rack-and-pinion steam railway takes you from Brienz to the Brienzer Rothorn. On the summit, you can enjoy a view of over 693 mountain peaks and the turquoise waters of Lake Brienz in the valley below. Discover memorable hikes or indulge in some culinary delights from the Berghaus.
