    Great hotel fantastic views.
This was a wonderful hotel situated between the railway station and the marina. All the staff were exceptional, always happy to help, always with a smile. There were 11 in our group including 2 under 6. Breakfast was excellent with items restocked as required. Good selection of cereal, cooked, cold meats, cheeses, breads and more. Rooms were very nice, comfortable with plenty of space. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

    This Is a Wonderful Hotel!
I loved this hotel and this town! The staff was so helpful and friendly. They arranged two amazing dinners for us and guided us away from the touristy options. One dinner was at Thun Castle which provided us with an incredible food and the other one was up in the mountains at a true authentic Suisse restaurant with a very salty waitress who gave us a good laugh. The rooms were clean and bright with a balcony overlooking the lake and castle in Spiez, which was breathtaking. The hotel provided a delicious afternoon treat to all guests - cake, brownies. It is centrally located in this beautiful picturesque town. They also have a small gym if you want to workout. The only thing that was a little awkward is that the bathroom is not totally separate from the sleeping area.

    A good place to stay.
We stayed in an apartment connected to the Hotel Eden, had breakfast and evening at the hotel. Very pleasant stay easy to get about especially with a wheelchair. The apartment was a bit dated in decor in bedrooms but slept 6 people, all very clean. In all a good stay

Outstanding and centrally located hotel with an exceptional breakfast buffet
My wife, 5-year old daughter, and I stayed here for 3 nights in September 2024 and found it to be an excellent hotel. Spiez served as our base for exploring the lake area around Lake Thun and Lake Brienz and it proved to be an excellent choice. Spiez is well connected by train to several locations and even Zurich so much so that on our very last day when we were flying out of Zurich, we were able to get a direct train back to the airport. But back to the hotel. From the moment we entered, the hotel exuded a sense of class. Perhaps it was the display of Swiss watches in the reception area that led to the impression but whatever it was, we were happy the second we entered the hotel that we had chosen it over another hotel just down the road that we had also considered. We found the service upon check in to be polite and efficient. Once we were in our room, we found it to be very modern and tastefully arranged. Because we were staying with a child, we had requested an extra cot. Upon entering the room, my daughter was delighted to see a small stuffy-bear placed on top of two cushions on that very cot that was meant for her. The hotel's (free) breakfast was exceptional. I am sure many, perhaps most readers of this review, have traveled more through Europe than I have but nonetheless, compared to a very recent hotel stay at Wengen and past stays from several years ago through Germany and Austria, I would characterize this hotel’s breakfast as among the very best I have had. While scrambled eggs and boiled eggs are provided in the buffet area, one can also request an omelet customized for one’s own tastes and that is provided free of any additional charge. The prosecco that was provided was also great and I wish I had more time to enjoy the prosecco while enjoying the beautiful views from the dining area. The breakfast is very well stocked with numerous breads, spreads, and juices. It truly is a treat for the senses. Finally, the location of the hotel is reasonably good. It is centrally located about 9-10 minutes from both the train station and the Spiez dock. Nonetheless, the area it is located in is quiet with minimal street noise. For me, as a light sleeper that’s a plus. In terms of downsides, the place is pricey. Even during mid-September, which is not quite peak season, we paid more than 400 Swiss francs per night! On top of that, those room rates were with only 2 occupants. Because we had three – and because we did want an extra cot – we had to pay an additional 55 Swiss francs PER NIGHT on top of those very high room rates. Therefore, it is easily one of the priciest hotels we have ever stayed in. The other downside would be the restaurant itself. While the breakfast buffet that is served is exceptional, as I have already noted, I am not sure I could say that of the in-house restaurant where we did dine on the very first night itself. For one, the prices are quite high (a pretty basic dinner the first night cost us 120+ Swiss francs) and second, the selections were also rather limited. As a result, on one of the following evenings even though we were back in Spiez around dinner time and in fact were at the hotel itself, we decided to not dine at the in-house restaurant and instead hike for 5 minutes to get to a different restaurant close to the train station. All in all though, provided your budget affords it, this hotel is an outstanding choice for exploring the Bernese Oberland area.

Not sure who wrote positive reviews - this isn't one.
Bad reception, room wasn't ready and I was told to go outside while it was raining. I was told to come back in 30 minutes, perhaps the room would be ready then, but perhaps I would be asked to wait another 30 minutes or so, i.e., get back out in the rain???? I asked if there was a cafe nearby and was told about restaurants and that I could eat in the hotel restaurant. I clarified again that I was looking for a cafe and was met with a shoulder shrug. Got my room an hour later - view of the parking lot. Wifi does not have a password, i.e. not the least bit secure. No iron in the room, aparently, there is an 'ironing room' for which a key can be requested. Do they expect me to carry my clothes on a hanger around in the hotel?
