The snowshoe tour to the Hohmad starts from the mountain station of the Wiriehorn chairlift on Nüegg. From here, the circular trail first leads along the toboggan run for a short distance, then the ascent to the Hohmad begins. Once at the top, it's worth taking a long break, if only for the panoramic view, before continuing back to the starting point.

General information
Directions
From the Wiriehorn mountain station (Nüegg), follow the signs towards the valley station of the Hohmad ski lift (sledging trail). After a few hundred metres, at the starting point of the bike downhill trails, the snowshoe trail branches off to the right. From here, always follow the directional signs. You cross the toboggan run again before the ascent to the Hohmad begins. At the top, the trail leads back down on the other side of the lift to the valley station of the Hohmad lift and back to the mountain station Wiriehorn (Nüegg).
The trail is signalled with pink directional signs and a snowshoe symbol. You are on the edge of wildlife rest zones and wildlife protection areas. Please keep to the signposts and do not leave the recommended route.
Safety Guidelines
The hiking time depends on the amount of snow and the condition of the route as well as your physical condition. The route has a demanding ascent and descent. Surefootedness and fitness are required for this tour.

Tip

Getting there
Motorway A6 Bern direction Zweisimmen, 1 km after the Simmenfluhtunnel turn left direction Diemtigtal. Follow the Diemtigtal road into the valley for 11 km to the Wiriehorn valley station. From here, the Wiriehorn cable car takes you up to the Nüegg mountain station (note operating times: www.wiriehorn.ch).
Parking
At the Wiriehorn valley station you will find parking spaces for which a fee is charged.
Public transit
By train to Oey-Diemtigen station (Spiez-Zweisimmen line). Continue by post bus to the stop «Riedli, Talstation Wiriehorn». From here, the Wiriehorn cable car takes you up to the Nüegg mountain station (note operating times: www.wiriehorn.ch).
