Wiriehorn snowshoe trail

Follow the snowshoe trail from the Wiriehorn mountain station (Nüegg), climbing gently towards Alp Schwarzenberg. The trail leads over the ridge with a medium gradient to Tubefärich. During the entire ascent you have fantastic views of the surrounding mountain peaks before you reach the turning point of your hike. The descent route follows the edge of the forest to the "Oberi Heitere" level and on to the saddle above the Nüegg mountain station. A short descent and you reach the mountain station and the Wiriehorn mountain hotel. The trail is signposted with pink direction signs and a snowshoe symbol.

The hiking time depends on the amount of snow and the nature of the route as well as your physical condition. On site you will find moderately steep terrain with occasionally steeper passages in the ascent and descent. A certain level of surefootedness is required for the tour.

Motorway A6 Bern direction Zweisimmen, 1 km after the Simmenfluhtunnel turn left direction Diemtigtal. Follow the Diemtigtal road into the valley for 11 km to the Wiriehorn valley station. From here, the Wiriehorn cable car takes you up to the Nüegg mountain station (note operating times: www.wiriehorn.ch).

At the Wiriehorn valley station you will find parking spaces for which a fee is charged.

By train to Oey-Diemtigen station (Spiez-Zweisimmen line). Continue by post bus to the stop «Riedli, Talstation Wiriehorn». From here, the Wiriehorn cable car takes you up to the Nüegg mountain station (note operating times: www.wiriehorn.ch).
