This hiking day surprises with a landscape of wild beauty: waterfalls, rocks, and diverse botany. The old mule track has been refurbished with dry stone walls, stone steps, and slabs.

The end of ViaBerna might seem dominated by engine noise – one might think. Occasionally this is true. But mostly the beautifully constructed path leads uphill on the opposite side of the valley. From the plain of Underwasser, a stairway overcomes a rock barrier up to Alp Wyssemad – with a beautiful view back to the Gadmen valley. The area is of wild beauty: waterfalls, mountain pines, blueberry bushes, and glacially polished rocks dominate the scene. The path has been prepared with dry stone walls, stone steps, and slabs. Often it is rough until the high moor In Miseren is reached. Here is a wonderful picnic spot. Through the high moor landscape, you soon reach Steingletscher, then along the old mule track to the hospice. Those who want to enjoy the high mountain scenery – and of course the completed 20 hiking days – a bit longer at the Susten Pass will find a cozy overnight stay in the traditional mountain guesthouse.
